Innovation & Sustainable Landscaping
An automatic sprinkler system is one of the most practical investments any New York City property owner can make. Done right, it keeps your lawn and plantings healthy with zero daily effort, conserves water by delivering the right amount to each zone, and protects your landscape investment through every season. Done wrong, it wastes water, floods plant beds, and fails when you need it most.
Singh Landscaping installs sprinkler systems engineered for New York City's specific conditions — variable water pressure, clay-heavy and sandy soil types, compact urban lots, and NYC Department of Buildings compliance requirements including approved backflow prevention.
Every Singh Landscaping sprinkler system starts with a site evaluation. We map your property, identify microclimates (shaded areas, slope zones, high-traffic turf), and design a zone layout that delivers water precisely where it's needed — not where it isn't. This reduces water bills and prevents the patchy, over/under-watered lawn that poorly designed systems create.
We install high-quality sprinkler heads, zone controllers, and NYC-compliant backflow preventers on every system. We don't cut corners on components — a system that fails after one season costs more to repair than it saved at installation.
A properly winterized sprinkler system survives New York winters. A neglected one cracks and fails. Singh Landscaping offers complete spring start-up (line pressurization, head inspection, controller programming) and fall winterization (compressed-air blow-out, valve shutdown) to protect your system year after year.
Broken heads, leaking valves, failed controllers, zone coverage gaps — Singh Landscaping diagnoses and repairs existing sprinkler systems across all five boroughs. We also retrofit older systems with smart controllers and water-efficient heads to reduce water usage and NYC water bills.
Not all properties need the same irrigation solution. Singh Landscaping selects and installs the right sprinkler type for each zone of your property — based on lawn size, plant type, soil condition, and water pressure.
Installation starts with a site evaluation and zone design based on your property layout and water pressure. We trench the yard, lay supply pipes, install zone valves and sprinkler heads, connect to the water supply with an NYC-compliant backflow preventer, and program the controller. Most residential installations are completed in one day with minimal disruption to the lawn.
The four main types are: (1) spray head systems — fixed heads that spray a set pattern, best for smaller lawn areas; (2) rotor systems — rotating heads that cover larger areas efficiently; (3) drip irrigation — low-volume emitters that water plant roots directly, ideal for beds and gardens; and (4) bubbler systems — slow-flow heads for trees and shrubs. Most NYC residential properties use a combination of spray and rotor heads zoned by area.
For most NYC residential lawns, rotor heads are the most water-efficient choice for turf areas, while spray heads work well for smaller or irregularly shaped zones. Drip irrigation is best for garden beds and plantings. Singh Landscaping designs each system with the right head type for each zone — not a one-size-fits-all layout.
For residential sprinkler systems, 1-inch main supply pipe and 3/4-inch zone pipe is the standard sizing for most NYC properties. Pipe sizing depends on your water pressure and flow rate — we calculate both during the site evaluation to ensure every zone performs correctly.
The 18-inch rule refers to the minimum clearance sprinkler heads should maintain from walls, fences, and structures to ensure proper coverage patterns and avoid water damage to surfaces. It's a best-practice installation guideline we follow on every Singh Landscaping system.
